7 Proven Examples of Linkedin Posts That Will Increase Engagement

EXAMPLE 1: ASK A QUESTION

Now that you’ve learned how to optimize your Linkedin profile, it’s time to optimize your posts. You’ll learn what type of posts work so you can emulate the same strategy that got thousands of views and hundreds of comments and re-shares.

  • I started with a question that intrigues anyone in sales that may be selling to IT (filtered down my target audience). If you're an HR manager then your post can start off with, "Applying for a new job?" or "Just got promoted?"
  • I provided a simple tactic to actually increase email open rates when emailing IT professionals.
  • I tagged a Linkedin connection (he had posted about selling to IT the day before so this sparked my post and tagging of him)
  • Most of the comments were people tagging other people in sales. This post led to a ton of people DMing me asking for more advice.

EXAMPLE 2: ASK FOR AN OPINION

  • Again, starting the post with a question. The question is vague enough so people must scroll down to know what the subject of the question even is.
  • Asking people “What would you respond to this?” is asking them for their expert advice, and people love to give expert advice.
  • I posted a picture for some context. Mixing pictures and texts and tagging of people is great.
  • Notice that I only threw in two hashtags (don’t overdo it).
  • Tagged a handful of people in my network that will respond to this post (that’s a Linkedin hack).

EXAMPLE 3: SHARE SOMETHING FROM A PERSON, COMPANY, GROUP

  • I hyped up one of the most “brilliant” things I’ve seen in a group (from Facebook group), then asked for people’s opinions.
  • Again, tagging a handful of people + attaching a photo creates context and buzz.
  • Remember, joining groups on Facebook can help with content creation, which is exactly what I did here.

EXAMPLE 4: SHARE OTHER PEOPLE'S POSTS

  • This post went viral with over 300,000 views.
  • I re-shared someone else’s post (this person is relatively influential on Linkedin with over 15,000 followers) and added my own blurb about it as well as tagged the person.
  • This picked up so much steam that I stopped checking notifications.
  • This doesn't mean that every share will get a lot of engagement, but what it does is promote someone else, and that is one of the best ways to bring awareness.

EXAMPLE 5: POST A VIDEO OF YOURSELF

  • I ask a popular question in the sales industry - everyone can relate, getting passed the gatekeeper.
  • I relate to the salesperson by saying what they're experiencing, gatekeepers can "smell a cold call."
  • I add a call to action for people to watch my video with "Here's how to do it:"
  • The video is 2:32 minutes long with me teaching people on exactly what to do when they confront a gatekeeper.

EXAMPLE 6: GO ON A RANT

  • This post is very different because it is more of a rant, which people love because it stirs the pot, and is opinionated.
  • I’m indirectly calling out people on Linkedin that are fake and doing it wrong.
  • I make a list of the do's and don’ts which automatically makes people self reflect.
  • Boom, people reacted favorably to this post because many were thinking the same thing but could not articulate it.

EXAMPLE 7: GIVE A SPECIFIC TACTIC FOR SOMEONE TO TRY

  • This post is meant to teach salespeople what to say when a gatekeeper answers the phone (notice how I re-purpose similar posts but with different strategies, one was a video, and this is purely text).
  • I add the actual script of what to say on a call - again, very practical advice that someone can immediately apply.
  • I add additional context in the last paragraph, to tie this all up which adds insight.
